Many customers have found that the effect of fiber laser cutting is not as good as before after using fiber laser cutting machines for several years. For example, fiber laser cutting accuracy and speed have decreased. So, what is the reason for the decline in the processing effect of the fiber laser cutting machine?
In fact, there are many factors that affect the cutting quality of fiber laser cutting machines. Influencing factors may include cutting height, cutting nozzle type, focus position, cutting power, cutting frequency, cutting duty cycle, cutting air pressure, cutting speed, safety glasses, gas purity, quality of process material, focusing mirror and collimating mirror.
The higher the laser power, the better the cutting quality, and the higher the fit between the laser cutting mode and the material.
The focal position affects the cutting accuracy, especially the focal diameter. At the same time, the focal diameter is proportional to the focal depth of the focusing lens. The smaller the focal depth of the focusing lens, the smaller the focal diameter. The smaller the focal diameter, the smaller the slit and the better the cutting quality.
The surface roughness of the material also determines the quality of the cut. Generally speaking, the smoother the material, the better the cut quality.
The higher the auxiliary gas pressure, the higher the gas purity, the less impurities attached to the material, and the smoother the cutting. Oxygen cutting is the fastest. Nitrogen cutting is the best and most economical. Generally speaking, different gases have different cutting effects.
The greater the thickness of the workpiece, the lower the accuracy and the larger the kerf. Therefore, fiber laser cutting machines are most suitable for cutting thin plates. The processing quality and efficiency of fiber laser cutting machines have also been significantly improved when cutting metal sheets.
Cutting speed has a great influence on cutting quality. Appropriate cutting speed will make the cutting surface smooth and the lower part will not produce slag. If the cutting speed is too fast, the material will not be cut through, sparks will fly, and slag will easily be generated, and even the lens will be burned. If the cutting speed is too slow, it is easy to cause over-melting of the material, widen the kerf, increase the heat-affected zone, and even cause over-melting of the workpiece.
The aperture of the nozzle, the distance between the nozzle light outlet and the material surface will all affect the fiber laser cutting effect. Kinetic energy is wasted if the workpiece is too far from the nozzle. But getting too close can cause splatter. Therefore, the height of the nozzle and workpiece must always remain the same during operation. The most suitable distance is 0.8mm.
